In 1997 the Kim Dawson Agency launched the Kim Dawson Model Search. The winner that first year was 15-year old Irving native Erin Wasson. Today Erin is one of the most recognizable faces in the fashion industry. She has been a face of Maybelline in addition to starring in major print campaigns for Armani, Michael Kors, Roberto Cavalli, Donna Karan Collection, Chanel, Tiffany & Co. She has been on the covers of Italian Vogue, Vogue Paris, German Vogue, Australian Vogue, Spanish Vogue, Allure, ID, Esquire and Elle. She has collaborated on collections from Alexander Wang, Zadig and Voltaire and RVCA and designs the eponimous jewelry line Wasson Fine.
The Kim Dawson Model Search is now in its twentieth year. It is not only a major scouting tool for the agency but, because of the success of the former winners, it is also followed by agencies in New York and abroad. Each year we choose multiple finalists and overall one winner from a pool of hopefuls that numbers around 1500. The search is open to girls ages 13-22, 5’7″ to 6′ in height and to guys ages 15-24, 5’11” to 6’3″ in height. Applications will be available beginning August 1 HERE. Unlike many model searches, the Kim Dawson Model Search is absolutely free to enter.
While Erin Wasson is arguably the most well-known model to come out of the Kim Dawson Model Search, many others have gone on to have successful careers locally, nationally and internationally. Mimi Roche, who was a finalist in 2000 has appeared in shows for Gucci, Roberto Cavalli, Yves St. Laurent, Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney to name a few. She has been photographed for Banana Republic, Allure, D&G and British Elle. Chaise Mooty, the 2004 winner, began working almost immediately and has shot campaigns for Abercrombie & Fitch, Guess and Benetton as well as editorials for L’UOMO Vogue, GQ, Details and Arena Homme Plus. Our 2005 winner, Ali Michael, was named one of Style.com’s Top 10 New Faces of 2007 after an amazing season in which she walked in shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris including Anna Sui, Burberry Prorsum, Christian Dior, Chanel, Christian LaCroix and Lanvin. In addition, Ali has shot numerous editorials for magazines such as W, Teen Vogue and Italian Vogue. 2010’s winner, Hannah Ferguson, has been featured in the Sports Illustrated Swim Suit Issue in 2014 -2016 and has also worked for Victoria’s Secret, GQ, Elle and Marie Claire.
