In 1997, the Kim Dawson Agency began its model search. The winner that first year was 15-year old Irving native Erin Wasson. Today Erin is one of the most recognizable faces in the fashion industry. With a beauty contract for Maybelline, major print campaigns for Armani, Michael Kors, Roberto Cavalli, Donna Karan Collection, Chanel, Tiffany & Co. and covers for Italian Vogue, German Vogue, Australian Vogue, Spanish Vogue, British Bazaar Id The Face and Elle, her face is omnipresent.
The Kim Dawson Model Search is now in its 15th year and this is the second year with our new media partner - The 33 CW TV. You can also get tips on how to get noticed by our model search judges, view photo galleries of past winners and finalists, enter to win make-overs and sign up for text alerts. The winner of the 2011 search will receive a one-year contract with the Kim Dawson Agency, $1000 in NorthPark Gold and the opportunity to star in a 30-second promotional spot on The 33 CW.
The search is held each summer and is open to girls ages 13 - 22, 5'7 - 6' in height and guys ages 15 - 24, 5'11 -6' 2 in height. Unlike many model searches, the Kim Dawson Model Search is absolutely free to enter. In addition to mail-in entries there will be a model search event at NorthPark Center (North Court) on Saturday, Septemeber 10 from noon - 3;00 where you can be photograhed by renown Dallas fahion photographer Larry Travis and walk the runway for our judges. Your runway walk will stream live on The 33TV website and still photos will be posted so that your fans can viote for you for The 33TV's Viewers Choice Winner.
While Erin Wasson is certainly the most well known model to come out of the Kim Dawson Model Search many others have gone on to have successful careers locally, nationally and internationally. Mimi Roche, who was a finalist in 2000 has walked the runway for Gucci, Roberto Cavalli, Yves St. Laurent, Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney to name a few. She has been photographed for Banana Republic, Allure, D&G and British Elle. Chaise Mooty, the 2004 winner, began working almost immediately and has shot campaigns for Abercrombie & Fitch, Guess and Benetton as well as editorials for L'UOMO Vogue, GQ, Details and Arena Homme Plus. Our 2005 winner, Ali Michael, was named one of Style.com's Top 10 New Faces of 2007after an amazing season in which she walked in shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris including Anna Sui, Burberry Prorsum, Christian Dior, Chanel, Christian LaCroix and Lanvin. In addition, Ali has shot numerous editorials for magazines such as Harper's Bazaar, W, Teen Vogue and Italian Vogue. 2008 finalist Rachel Thomas and 2010 winner Hannah Ferguson are beginning their international careers this summer in New York with IMG Models and Dna Models respectively. Many other model search winners and finalists have been signed by the Kim Dawson Agency and are working locally, nationally and internationally.
