In 1997 the Kim Dawson Agency began a model search in conjunction with Fashion!Dallas, the fashion section of the Dallas Morning News.  The winner that first year was 15-year old Irving native Erin Wasson.  Today Erin is one of the most recognizable faces in the fashion industry.  With a beauty contract for Maybelline, major print campaigns for Armani, Michael Kors, Roberto Cavalli, Donna Karan Collection, Chanel, Tiffany & Co. and covers for Italian Vogue, German Vogue Australian Vogue, British Bazaar and Elle, her face is omnipresent.

The F!D/KD Model Search is in its twelth year.  Each year one winner will be picked from a pool of hopefuls that numbers over 2000.  The model search winner will receive a one-year contract with the Kim Dawson Agency and prize package from NorthPark Center.

The search is held each summer and is open to girls ages 14-22, 5'7" to 6' in height and to guys ages 16-24, 5'11" to 6'3" in height.  Applications are available beginning July 1 in the Dallas Morning News or their website, www.dallasnews.com/modelsearch.  Unlike many model searches the F!D/KD Model Search is absolutely free to enter.  In addition to the mail-in entries there will be a model search event at NorthPark Center where aspiring models can be seen in person by the staffs of the Kim Dawson Agency and Fashion!Dallas. The 2009 event will be on Saturday, August 22th and will include free makeovers, music, giveaways and more.

While Erin Wasson is certainly the most well known model to come out of the F!D/KD Model Search many others have gone on to have successful careers locally, nationally and internationally. Mimi Roche, who was a finalist in 2000 has walked the runway for Gucci, Roberto Cavalli, Yves St. Laurent, Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney to name a few. She has been photographed for Banana Republic, Allure, D&G and British Elle.  Chaise Mooty, the 2004 winner, began working almost immediately and has shot campaigns for Abercrombie & Fitch, Guess and Benetton as well as editorials for L'UOMO Vogue, GQ, Details and Arena Homme Plus. Our 2005 winner, Ali Michael, was named one of Style.com's Top 10 New Faces of 2007after an amazing season in which she walked in shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris including Anna Sui, Burberry Prorsum, Christian Dior, Chanel, Christian LaCroix and Lanvin. In addition, Ali has shot numerous editorials for magazines such as Harper's Bazaar, W, Teen Vogue and Italian Vogue. Many other model search winners and finalists have been signed by the Kim Dawson Agency and are working locally in the Dallas market while building their careers.
